I’m a tinkerer, assembling Found Objects into one-of-a-kind tiny beings. These tiny beings are called FObots as they’re made of all those found objects. I scavenge flea markets, auctions, antique malls, my parents’ attic, friends’ basements, and the internet for cool, vintage junk and miniature stuff.
Their whimsical names and charming stories emerge from my studio full of nuts, bolts, odd fragments of machinery, broken kitchen tools, sewing bobbles, table legs, jewelry bits, dollhouse miniature pieces, and anything else I’ve found. I don’t weld or solder, but rather I use cold connections—rivets, screws, wire, plumbing connectors, and epoxy. These aren’t robots, they don’t do anything. I design them to make you smile and perhaps remind you of some bygone objects of your life.
Recently retired from a 37-year career in Corporate America and having raised our seven children, my husband and I now operate our family home (a 1902 Kansas City mansion) as Mansion in the Park B&B. In the basement of our Inn, you can find the fantasyland of my FObots.
