Felted wool and fiber wearables

Member since 2014

I come by a love of all things fiber from my mother and grandmother. My mother is a quilter, and my grandmother knitted and crocheted. I grew up sewing, but since retiring last year, I now devote full time to creating with fiber. After spending 27 years in a language arts classroom encouraging students to create and think outside the box, I decided it was my turn.

I love art that functions. I create wearable fiber art. I like to experiment with fiber trying new approaches like felting or stitching then watching how each application changes the color and texture of the fabric. Often I start with a color group and then manipulate the fiber to add texture. I prefer to work with natural fibers like wool, silk and cotton. Many materials come from repurposed fabrics crafted out of recycled garments.

I am secretary for the Fiber Guild of Greater Kansas City and serve on the board for the Creative Hand Show held in November.

My business name is Milo's Toes. I live in Prairie Village with my husband and a cat named Milo
